Eggs contain high levels of cholesterol. The recommended daily cholesterol level is 300 mg. A large poultry egg contains approximately 212 milligrams of cholesterol. However, the cholesterol in the diet does not directly raise blood cholesterol levels. Research has shown that up to 70% of the population does not have an increase in egg cholesterol levels. For the remaining 30%, their cholesterol levels have increased only a little.
